Wethey wins four on card at Will Rogers

Jockey Floyd Wethey Jr. is making a strong bid for the riding title at Will Rogers Downs near Tulsa, Okla., after winning four races on the card Tuesday. Wethey won two of them for trainer Jody Pruitt, including the ninth race with $33 longshot Don's Okie Luck.

Wethey's other winners came in the second, fifth, and eighth races. The success had him sitting second in the standings to leader Curtis Kimes, who had a triple at the track Tuesday. Kimes led all riders at the meet with 26 wins through Tuesday. Wethey has 19.

Mike Teel led the trainer standings with 12 wins, two more than second-leading trainer Roger Engel.

The first two stakes of the meet will be run next Saturday, May 1. Both are for 3-year-olds and up at six furlongs. The $50,000 Wilma Mankiller is restricted to fillies and mares, and the $50,000 Clem McSpadden Memorial Route 66 is an open race.
