Leslie Martin/Coglianese Photos We're All Set held off a challenge by Yourdreamsormine to win the Sea of Grass Stakes.

We’re All Set will go for his sixth victory in 10 starts since being claimed by trainer Peter Walder when the 5-year-old Florida-bred drops in for a $62,500 claiming tag in the Friday feature at Gulfstream Park in south Florida.

We’re All Set was 1 for 26 in his career when Walder claimed him for $25,000 for a three-man partnership in March 2015 at Gulfstream.

“He’s my favorite horse in the barn,” said Walder. “He has a huge heart and will to win, but more importantly, he won the day I got married [last Sept. 7]. That really got his roll started.”

We’re All Set has three wins and two seconds from five subsequent starts and most recently won the restricted Sea of Grass Stakes on June 26 at Gulfstream.

With Edgard Zayas riding from post 1, We’re All Set is among seven older horses in the ninth of 10 Friday races, a $44,000 allowance with a variety of conditions and the $62,500 claiming option. Yourdreamsormine and Johnny Handsome figure as the main competition in the one-mile race.

The new first post Friday is 1 p.m. Eastern, with the feature set for 5:17.

Earlier Friday, Garden Goddess, the filly who was scratched from a July 21 race because she had been entered too soon after an ownership transfer, is a major contender in the third race, her first start since being claimed in June at Churchill Downs. Marcus Vitali claimed the filly as owner-trainer, but Crossed Sabres Farm is the new owner and Allan Hunter Jr. the new trainer.

The Friday card leads into one of the biggest days of the three-month summer meet at Gulfstream: Saturday is Florida Sire Stakes Day, with six stakes on the card. Co-features are the Dr. Fager and Desert Vixen, each worth $200,000 for 2-year-olds; entries were to be taken Wednesday. First post Saturday is 12:35.

Leonel Reyes on a roll

Leonel Reyes is starting to make his presence felt in the Gulfstream jockey colony in much the same way that his fellow Venezuelan Emisael Jaramillo did last summer.

Reyes won four races last Friday in easily his best day since he began riding at Gulfstream on Feb. 21. It took Reyes more than a month to win his first race at Gulfstream, but now he has won 37, including 10 at the summer meet that started July 1. Reyes, 29, was a two-time riding champion in Venezuela, where he rode more than 1,400 winners.

“I’m very happy with how things are going,” Reyes told Gulfstream publicity through an interpreter. “I’m going to continue to work hard to win more races here at Gulfstream. The jockeys here are skilled, and I look forward to staying in the United States to ride against the best.”

Meanwhile, Jaramillo continues to win races in bunches and is challenging Tyler Gaffalione for the top spot at this meet. Gaffalione led by a 34-24 count when a four-day race week began Thursday. Jaramillo made his Gulfstream debut on Aug. 1, 2015, when he returned to the U.S. following a 12-year absence.

◗ The three most notable winners last weekend at Gulfstream earned similar Beyer Speed Figures: Abounding Legacy got an 87 in the Trinniberg Stakes on Saturday, Miss Hollywood got a career-high 84 in the Monroe Stakes on Sunday, and $615,736 earner Kiss to Remember got an 83 in an allowance sprint Sunday.

◗ Another Venezuelan jockey, Samy Camacho, escaped serious injury in the ninth race Sunday when his mount, Roseanna, fell suddenly near the quarter pole, throwing the 24-year-old rider. Roseanna, a 3-year-old filly trained by Chad Stewart, also was not seriously injured.
