:quality(75))
This has been a busy year of travel for Day to Day, who starts in Friday’s $75,000 Cellars Shiraz Stakes at Gulfstream Park.
Trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., Day to Day has had seven starts at five tracks since late January.
The highlights include a win by 2 1/4 lengths as the 11-10 favorite in the $125,000 Brookmeade Stakes for Virginia-bred or Virginia-sired fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on turf on June 27 at Colonial Downs and a second by 1 1/4 lengths in the Grade 3 John C. Harris Stakes at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course on Sept. 26 at Santa Anita.
Day to Day returns to a longer race in the Cellars Shiraz for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles on turf. Owned by the partnership of C2 Racing Stables, BAG Racing Stables, Barry Fowler, and Mark Taylor, Day to Day is part of a field of 10.
The Cellars Shiraz drew a competitive field.
Striking Finale, who has her stakes debut on Friday, has won three of her last four starts for trainer Nolan Ramsey. In her last race on Aug. 16, Striking Finale closed from sixth to win an allowance race for Florida-breds by 1 3/4 lengths at a mile on turf.
Come On Teesha is unbeaten in two starts at five furlongs on turf at Gulfstream Park. She was claimed by trainer Michael Morrison from Joseph for $30,000 in a maiden race in August, and won an allowance race at five furlongs on turf Sept. 27.
Pure Eloquence returns to turf after a last-place finish in a field of six in an allowance race at five furlongs on the synthetic track Sept. 19, her first start since an appealing win as a pacesetter in an allowance race at a mile on turf in March. The Sept. 19 race was Pure Eloquence’s first start for Joseph.
Our Dear Peggy
Casablanca Queen, the sharp winner of a maiden race at 7 1/2 furlongs on turf Aug. 16 at Gulfstream Park, will start in her second stakes in Friday’s $75,000 Our Dear Peggy Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at a mile on turf.
Trained by Jose D’Angelo, Casablanca Queen finished last of nine in the $750,000 Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies Stakes at a mile on turf Sept. 7, racing wide for the first five furlongs as a 30-1 outsider.
In the Our Dear Peggy Stakes, Casablanca Queen starts from the outside in a field of 12. The post position draw was kinder to Sucker for Looks, who was second in a maiden race at 6 1/2 furlongs on Sept. 9 at Kentucky Downs in her first start.
Trained by Lauren Robson, Sucker for Lucks starts from post 5, one stall to the outside of the two-time sprint stakes winner Liberty Rings.
Trained by Nicholas Palmer, Liberty Rings runs in her longest race in the Our Dear Peggy Stakes. She will be fitted with blinkers for the first time and is likely to race near the front.
