Bayne Welker, the director of stallion marketing and public sales at Alice Chandler’s Mill Ridge Farm for nine years, will join Fasig-Tipton’s management team as an account executive in 2009. Welker, who also has been the president of the Consignors and Commercial Breeders Association since the group’s formation in 2005, will take his new position effective in January. “I leave with tremendous respect for Alice Chandler and the Mill Ridge staff and clientele,” Welker said in an announcement issued Tuesday by Fasig-Tipton. “With Headley Bell’s leadership, the farm will continue to produce top-class Thoroughbreds under the philosophy Mrs. Chandler has instilled. Although it was difficult to leave Mill Ridge, I look forward to new challenges and opportunities at Fasig-Tipton.”
