Welder's next race? To be determined

The first order of business Saturday morning in trainer Theresa Luneack’s barn was a sweet one for Welder, the millionaire who races for Ra-Max Farms.
“The first thing I did was give him peppermints,” she said.
Welder on Friday night won the Silver Goblin Stakes at Remington Park for a record fourth time. It was his 11th stakes victory at the track – which also is a record at Remington.
“He came back great,” Luneack said Saturday. “He’s super-good this morning, feeling good. I’m really happy with the way he came back.”
Welder zipped 6 1/2 furlongs in a quick 1:15.49 and may have wrapped up his season Friday, but that’s still to be determined, Luneack said. There are no stakes options left for his division, but there still is racing through Dec. 20 at Remington.

“It just depends what comes up,” Luneack said. “If there was something right there at the end of the meet, I would be more than [happy] to run him. I wouldn’t be broken-hearted if this was the last out of the year.”
Welder has won 14 races at Remington, one off the all-time record of 15.
Luneack said longterm plans are to run Welder at the Oaklawn meet that opens in January.
