A week after finishing one-two in the Colleen, Ward has three in Saturday's Tyro

Don’t show up late if you want a peek at the future on Saturday at Monmouth Park. The feature on the card, the $75,000 Tyro Stakes for 2-year-olds at five furlongs on the turf, is slotted as the first race of the day at 12:50 p.m. Eastern.
Trainer Wesley Ward finished one-two in last weekend’s Colleen Stakes for 2-year-old fillies sprinting on the turf. He has a strong hand as he goes for the double in the corresponding open race, with a trio of well-bred entrants in Golden Pal, Fauci, and Spicy Marg.
Golden Pal, by Uncle Mo and out of the brilliant turf sprinter Lady Shipman, is a maiden after two starts, but not for lack of effort. The colt was second in his debut April 17 on the Gulfstream Park dirt, beaten three-quarters of a length after recovering from a bump at the start. He then traveled to England for the Royal Ascot meeting, and was beaten a neck by The Lir Jet in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes.
Golden Pal gets the services of Monmouth leading rider Paco Lopez as he returns to U.S. shores.

The well-regarded Fauci, by Malibu Moon, was second in his debut on the dirt at Belmont. Moved to the turf, he broke his maiden last month at Keeneland, earning a solid Beyer Speed Figure of 72 on the yielding turf.
Fauci’s dam, Tashzara, is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Excelebration – a contemporary of the great Frankel – as well as to Group 1 winner Lancaster Bomber.
Ward’s trio is rounded out by the filly Spicy Marg, who is making her career debut. The daughter of leading juvenile sire Into Mischief is from the family of Grade 1 winners Shackleford and Lady Joanne.
Grade 3-placed County Final moves back to the turf in his first start for Steve Asmussen. The Oxbow colt made the first two starts of his career with trainer John Ennis, including a four-length debut win on the Churchill Downs turf. Three weeks later, he finished second in the Grade 3 Bashford Manor Stakes on the Churchill dirt - beaten 4 3/4 lengths by the Asmussen-trained Cazadero.
County Final subsequently sold for $475,000 to lead the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky selected horses of racing age sale on July 13, and will continue his career for West Point Thoroughbreds, Randy Hill, and Spedel Family Racing.
The main body of the Tyro field is completed by Delaware debut winner Newyearsblockparty; Baytown Bear, who owns a maiden win in five starts; and Twirling Fire, still a maiden after two starts. Beau Bridge is entered for the main track only.
