Saratoga | Race 9 | Post Time 5:42 p.m. (ET) Mark Casse's uncoupled pair of entrants, Charlotte's Heart (#5) and Disco Star (#9), own some of the best speed figures in this Suzie O'Cain, but both have questions to answer at the distance on Wednesday. The former was impressive in her sprint debut here last summer, and but her lone attempt at a route distance on synthetic later in the season resulted in a dismal performance. Disco Star is perhaps even more of a stretch going this trip, being by excellent turf sprinter Disco Partner. She faced better open company foes in her lone prior route attempt, but she lacked any semblance of her typical late kick. I'm more convinced by some of the fillies exiting a June 12 Aqueduct allowance race at this distance. Trail of Gold (#3) was victorious in that spot and appears to be dangerous right back even as she steps up against stakes company. She hasn't gotten ideal trips in any of her turf races, sustaining wide trips in each start this season. She only won by a nose last time, but she hardly lucked into that victory after going 3 to 4-wide throughout. Mommy's Turn (#2) was beaten as the favorite after getting rank early, but that's been a problem in both of her turf starts. Perhaps Grace and Grit (#1) can move forward again after settling for third in that June 12 affair. She got tired in the late stages, but may still be racing herself into peak fitness, and her tactical speed should play well here.  The TimeformUS Pace Projector depicts Marvelous Madison (#7) on the early lead, and while I'm not convinced that Junior Alvarado will be intent on sending her to the front, I do think she can work out a good trip racing prominently throughout. She's another who wasn't successful in her only attempt going long on turf in the Miss Grillo, but that's a race to ignore. She was traveling well on the front end before lugging out and bolting as the field came to the quarter pole. She had won her prior start sprinting, but Chad Brown had actually wanted to enter going long last summer, getting rained off in a turf route before he found a sprint at the end of the meet. She's now in the stable of Bill Mott, who got a race under her belt off the layoff last time. She's bred to be better going longer, and I think she can move forward stretching out to a distance she's always been meant to handle.
