Washington summer yearling and mixed sale catalog now online

The catalog for the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association summer yearling and mixed sale is now online, currently featuring 126 entries.

The auction will take place Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the Morris J. Alhadeff Sales Pavilion at Emerald Downs in Auburn, Wash.

Among this year’s offerings are 119 yearlings, six broodmare prospects, and a stallion prospect. A paddock session for horses of racing age is also scheduled, with entries being taken through Aug. 5.

All yearlings and weanlings who go through a WTBOA sale are eligible for the WTBOA Sales Incentive Program, which rewards owners of graduates who win their maiden at Emerald Downs at ages 2 or 3.

Owners of first-time winners in a maiden special weight, allowance, or stakes race will earn a $2,500 bonus, while eligible horses who win a maiden-claiming race of $25,000 or more will receive $1,000.

Stallions with first-crop yearlings in the catalog include Alternation, Car Talk, Fort Larned, J’s R Wild, Justin Phillip, Morning Line, New Year’s Day, Overanalyze, and Smiling Tiger.
