Warsaichi will use her speed in Shesastonecoldfox
The top three finishers from last month’s Lady Finger Stakes at Finger Lakes, led by daylight winner Warsaichi, head the field for Monday’s $29,900 Shesastonecoldfox Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at the Farmington, N.Y., track.
Warsaichi, who will have regular rider John Davila Jr. aboard again Monday for trainer Chris Englehart, made her stakes debut in the $97,725 Lady Finger following a 7 1/2-length maiden score at Finger Lakes. She again scored a front-running win, pouring it on late to win by 4 1/4 lengths.
With that win, she earned free entry into one of Finger Lakes’s most prestigious races, the $158,579 New York Breeders’ Futurity. However, she passed on that Oct. 17 race for another week off and to remain against fillies.
Warsaichi, who drew post 3 in the field of seven, will have other speed to contend with in the Shesastonecoldfox. Directly to her outside in post 4 will be Waitwaitdonttellme, a front-running 10 1/2-length maiden winner last time out at Finger Lakes. She earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 56, which stacks up respectably. Warsaichi earned a field-best 64 in her maiden win, and a 59 in the Lady Finger.
Debut winner Small Pebbles is drawn on the rail and also could flash some speed.

Isabel Luvs Gold, trained by Mike Ferraro, chased throughout in the Lady Finger to finish second. Womanonthewarpath was third in that race in her first start away from Louisiana Downs and her first outing for new trainer Stacy Torelli.
Maiden winners Shes So Speightsy and the maiden Ice’s Ironicdancer complete the field.
Monday’s race is named after 2001 Lady Finger and New York Breeders’ Futurity winner Shesastonecoldfox, who also won the Joseph A. Gimma at Belmont Park and earned honors as the champion New York-bred 2-year-old filly that season. Shesastonecoldfox was inducted into the Finger Lakes Hall of Fame in 2016.
◗ There is additional racing in the Great Lakes region on Monday afternoon as Presque Isle cards the $100,000 Finest City Stakes for Pennsylvania-bred 2-year-old fillies. This race also is named for a statebred standout, as Finest City won the 2016 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint to earn an Eclipse Award.
The only fillies in this field with prior stakes experience are Pachelbel and Flor de Sombra, second and third, respectively, in the Imply on Sept. 24 at Parx Racing. Prior to that, Flor de Sombra won the Miss Blue Tye Dye Stakes, also at Parx. The fillies now move to a synthetic surface.
