Warrior’s Club eyeing Razorback

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Warrior’s Club is being debated for a start in the Grade 3, $500,000 Razorback Handicap at Oaklawn Park, trainer D. Wayne Lukas said. The 1 1/16-mile race will be run Monday.
Warrior’s Club last raced Nov. 3 and finished eighth to champion Roy H in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint. Last year was a big one for Warrior's Club, who won his most prestigious race, the Grade 3 Commonwealth at seven furlongs at Keeneland. The $250,000 renewal April 6 is a spring objective for the horse, Lukas said.
Warrior’s Club, who is a winner around two turns at Oaklawn, has won five races overall and earned $724,104. He is owned by the Churchill Downs Racing Club.
Lukas said Gray Sky also is being considered for the Razorback after he ran second in an Oaklawn allowance Jan. 27 in his first out since November.
“I’ll look at it this week,” Lukas said on a final decision for either horse in the Razorback.
* Market King, who won his two-turn debut in a deep maiden special weight at 1 1/16 miles on Saturday at Oaklawn, could develop into a candidate for the Grade 2, $1 million Rebel here March 16, Lukas said. The colt by Into Mischief earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 73. He races for Robert Baker and William Mack.
* Lukas will be a featured speaker at the American Quarter Horse Association’s national convention in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 9.
