Warren's Showtime skips Bayakoa, will race in one of three opening-day stakes at Santa Anita

Warren’s Showtime was held out of Sunday’s Grade 3 Bayakoa Stakes at Los Alamitos in favor of a stakes appearance at Santa Anita.
“We gave it a lot of thought, but there are a lot of opportunities for her at Santa Anita,” trainer Craig Lewis said.
Now Lewis and owners Ben and Sally Warren will have to choose a race. Lewis said on Friday there are three options, all stakes for 3-year-old fillies – the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes at seven furlongs, the Grade 1 American Oaks at 1 1/4 miles on turf, or the $75,000 Lady of Shamrock Stakes at a mile on turf. All three races are Dec. 26.
“We’ll probably nominate to all three,” Lewis said.

Warren’s Showtime has won 6 of 14 starts and earned $539,251.
Club Aspen, the winner of the King Glorious Stakes for 2-year-old statebreds at Los Alamitos last December, is nearing a comeback at the start of the Santa Anita meeting, Lewis said.
Club Aspen has not raced since a third-place finish in the Echo Eddie Stakes for statebreds at Santa Anita in May.
