Warmup scratch proves unlucky for Rainbow 6 bettor
One unlucky bettor suffered a terribly difficult beat in the Rainbow 6 at Laurel Park on Saturday after the scratch of a horse during the warmup resulted in a live ticket being transferred to race favorite, Confessor, who won. Because of the scratch, Confessor, who had been scheduled to take down the entire Rainbow 6 pool, had two live tickets riding on him in the Rainbow 6, resulting in a Sunday carryover.
Coming into race 10, the Laurel Park finale, there were single live Rainbow tickets to Biz Nasty (No. 2), Tracy With A Y (No. 3), Confessor (No. 9), and Brazen Prince (No. 14). The payout to all of them was scheduled to be $16,156.
But when Brazen Prince was scratched during the warmup on the advice of the veterinarian, his live ticket was transferred to Confessor, who was favored by $748 over second choice Biz Nasty.
Due to the scratch, when Confessor defeated Biz Nasty by 5 1/4 lengths, there were two live Rainbow 6 tickets on him. Each returned $1,504. The resulting Sunday carryover is $13,147.
Confessor, who is trained by Carl Doran, paid $7.20. Confessor was the third winner of the day for jockey Daniel Centeno.
