Ward contemplating Miss Alacrity's next start

Trainer Wesley Ward has no shortage of 2-year-old turf sprinters, and he’ll take his time figuring out what comes next for the filly Miss Alacrity, who won the Miss Colleen Stakes by an easy 2 3/4 lengths Sunday at Monmouth.
Miss Alacrity cruised to a New York-bred dirt maiden win in her career debut, and on Sunday ran five furlongs on firm going in 57.23 seconds, which produced a 75 Beyer. Ward said the filly isn’t a candidate for Kentucky Downs races because the purses there are so heavily reinforced by money available only to Kentucky-breds. He said he could take a patient approach with Miss Alacrity and aim for the Oct. 9 Matron, a six-furlong Belmont turf sprint, to see if the filly merits Breeders’ Cup consideration.
“We have options. She did win nicely on turf, but she can do both,” Ward said.
Ward has 2-year-old filly Chi Town Lady set to take on males this weekend in the Tyro Stakes, another five-furlong grass race.
