War Heroine taken out of training due to undisclosed problem

DEL MAR, Calif. – War Heroine, the winner of the Grade 2 San Clemente Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on July 21, has been taken out of training, owner Gary Barber said on Saturday.
“She didn’t come out of it well,” said Barber. “I’m going to give her time.”
Barber did not state the nature of War Heroine’s ailment. Trained by Peter Miller, War Heroine has won 4 of 6 starts and earned $240,945. She won the Sweet Life Stakes on the hillside turf course at Santa Anita in February.
Barber won Saturday’s $151,725 California Dreamin’ Stakes for statebreds with Fly to Mars, who set a course record of 1:39.50 for 1 1/16 miles on turf. The California Dreamin’ Stakes was the first stakes for Fly to Mars.
After the race, Barber said he is considering sending Got Stormy to California for the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks at 1 1/8 miles on turf for 3-year-old fillies on Aug. 18.
Trained by Mark Casse, Got Stormy has won 4 of 8 starts and earned $283,978. Got Stormy has won three consecutive stakes, the most recent of which was the Grade 3 Ontario Colleen Stakes at a mile on turf at Woodbine on July 21.
