War Like Goddess goes to Plan B: the Glens Falls Stakes

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – After last Sunday’s $150,000 River Memories Stakes failed to fill at Belmont Park, War Like Goddess will now point to the Grade 2, $250,000 Glens Falls Stakes at 1 1/2 miles here on Aug. 6, trainer Bill Mott said.
“We were juggling between the United Nations [at Monmouth Park] and the Glens Falls,” Mott said. “I think I’m going to go to the Glens Falls.”
War Like Goddess won last year’s Glens Falls and the Grade 1 Flower Bowl at this meet. The Flower Bowl has been downgraded to a Grade 2 this year, which may lead Mott to run War Like Goddess in the Grade 1 Sword Dancer against males later in the meet.
“I can’t believe the Flower Bowl’s not a Grade 1 anymore,” Mott said. “That’s the most disappointing thing.”
On Thursday, Obligatory worked a half-mile in 51.34 seconds over the Oklahoma training track, her first breeze since finishing second in the Grade 2 Bed o’ Roses on June 10. Obligatory, winner of the Grade 1 Derby City Distaff in May, is pointing to the Grade 1 Ballerina here on Aug. 28.
Casa Creed, winner of the Grade 1 Jaipur on June 10, worked a half-mile in 50.65 seconds over the Oklahoma training track. He is pointing to the Grade 1 Fourstardave here on Aug. 13.
