Walsh shipper lukewarm favorite in Tampa Friday feature
Fans arriving early in the Tampa area for weekend sports action such as the Davis card on Saturday and a football game known as the Super Bowl on Sunday can avail themselves to a nine-race Friday card, although there’s not so much as one allowance on offer.
Perhaps the deepest race on a program that starts at 12:15 p.m. Eastern is the race 9 finale, a $23,500 maiden-special turf mile that drew an oversubscribed field of older fillies and mares. Dinn Righ, a Brendan Walsh shipper from Palm Meadows, is a tepid morning-line favorite over a Christophe Clement first-time starter, Lady Palace, and two more with considerably more experience, Gaelic Tales, who has eight starts, and Lady Rosalie, who has 14.

Unlike most other tracks across the country during the pandemic, Tampa has allowed ontrack spectators since its 2020-21 meet began Nov. 25. For Saturday, seating is limited to 2,500, with $10 being charged for general admission.
Mostly sunny weather is forecast for Friday, with a slight chance for rain Saturday. Temperatures will be in the low 70s both days. An 70 percent chance of rain is forecast for Sunday, when Tampa will host racing prior to Super Bowl kickoff at 6:30 p.m. Eastern.
