Walker Stalker looking to double up in Charles Taylor Derby

Walker Stalker will attempt to win his second straight stakes race of The Downs at Albuquerque meet on Saturday night, when he stretches back out around two turns for the $70,000 Charles Taylor Derby.
The race, to be run at 1 1/16 miles, drew a field of eight.
Walker Stalker won the $50,000 Duke City Sprint on the opening-night card at Albuquerque on June 28. He was prominent throughout while covering 5 1/2 furlongs in a sharp 1:03.53. The move back to two turns suits Walker Stalker, a son of Stroll who won a maiden special weight at a mile in February at Sunland Park.
Alejandro Medellin has the mount from the rail for Gallegos Del Norte Racing and trainer J.R. Gonzalez Jr.
The chief threats include Pasamonte Man, the runner-up to Walker Stalker in the maiden race who went on to run fourth in the $100,000 Mine That Bird Derby at Sunland.
