Wade earns stakes double aboard Zippit E, Mav Master

Jockey Lindey Wade had a stakes double Saturday night at Sam Houston when he guided Zippit E to a repeat win in the $50,000 Yellow Rose and Mav Master to victory in the $50,000 Richard King.
The races were among four stakes in the annual Texas Champions Weekend. There are two more stakes Sunday. The races are all restricted to Texas-breds and the purse for each is $50,000.
Zippit E ($7) overtook the leaders after a half-mile in 46.42 seconds, going on to a 2 1/2-length score over Prada’s Bling. The winner covered six furlongs for fillies and mares on a sloppy track in 1:12.27.
Wade was aboard for trainer Bret Calhoun.
Zippit E is a daughter of My Golden Song and the stakes-winning mare Final Trick. She races for her breeders, Wayne Sanders and Larry Hirsch. She has now won six of 13 starts and $168,691.
Mav Master ($7.40) tracked fractions of 24.41 seconds for the opening quarter, 49.68 for the half-mile and 1:14.59 for six furlongs in the 1 1/8-miles race before going on to win the off-the-turf Richard King in 1:54.44.
Wade was aboard for trainer Kari Craddock.
Mav Master is a son of Mizzen Mast and the stakes-winning mare Annie Savoy, who earned $318,718. Mav Master races for his breeder, Hal Browning. The Richard King was his first stakes victory. He has now won four races from 23 starts for earnings of $128,655.
Imma Bling ($8.20) was an 11-length winner of the $50,000 Spirit of Texas, his second straight stakes win behind the $75,000 Bonapaw in December at Fair Grounds. Imma Bling stalked the pace Saturday through an opening quarter in 22.28 seconds, took over through a half-mile in 45.67, and drew clear. He covered six furlongs on a sloppy track in 1:10.26.
Quincy Hamilton was aboard for trainer Karl Broberg.
Imma Bling is a son of Too Much Bling who races for Flurry Racing Stables. He was bred by Hall Family Trust. Imma Bling has now won eight races from 32 starts for earnings of $207,797.
Witt’s Town ($5.20) closed from last for a three and a quarter length victory in the $50,000 San Jacinto. She lagged behind pacesetter San Antonio Stroll through six furlongs in 1:13.32 before going on to cover the 1 1/16 miles in the slop in 1:47.89. Ernesto Valdez-Jiminez was aboard the winner for trainer Terry Eoff.
Witt’s Town is a daughter of Drums of Thunder and races for her breeder, Henry Witt Jr. She has now won seven races from 18 starters for earnings of $122,557.
There will be six more stakes on a special Sunday card at Sam Houston, with the program led by the Grade 3, $400,000 Houston Ladies Classic. First post is 12:10 p.m. Central.
