Vodka Gimlet up by a neck in Big Drama Stakes

Vodka Gimlet won his second straight stakes of the Delta Downs meet Saturday, when he got up for a neck win over Lightning Struck in the $75,000 Big Drama. It was another three-quarters of a length back in third to Totalizer.
The Big Drama was a seven-furlong race for 3-year-olds who had started at the meet, with the exception of open company stakes.
Vodka Gimlet ($5.40) came into the Big Drama off a win in the $100,000 Louisiana Premier Prince on Feb. 5 at Delta. He stalked the pace Saturday, sitting off fractions of 23.57 seconds for the opening quarter, 47.47 for the half-mile, and 1:14.61 for six furlongs. Vodka Gimlet took after the leaders in the stretch and covered the distance - run around two turns - in 1:28.59.

Thomas Pompell was aboard the winner for trainer Allen Landry.
Vodka Gimlet is a son of Goldencents who races for Ellen Epstein. He has now won 3 of 7 starts for earnings of $147,645.
