Vocalised scored as the 2-1 favorite in the Group 3, $97,000 Greenham Stakes on Saturday in a race that was marred by four late scratches, three of them group race winners, due to the soft ground at Newbury.\nTrained in Ireland by Jim Bolger and ridden by Kevin Manning, Vocalised prevailed by a length over the fast closing Cityscape, but Godolphin Racing's cold English spring continued as Shaweel could manage only fifth of eight, beaten three lengths in his first start since finishing fourth in the Dewhurst Stakes on Oct. 18. \nVocalised, a Kentucky-bred son of Vindication, covered the straight seven furlongs in 1:27.81.\nVocalised, who had a conditioning edge on his opponents after winning the listed Loughbrown Stakes at the Curragh on April 5, is not nominated to the 2000 Guineas and will run instead in the French 2000 at Longchamp on May 10. \nCityscape, who in his previous start finished second to Jukebox Jury in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes in September, will go in the Newmarket 2000 Guineas on May 2. At least one of the Greenham scratches, Dewhurst Stakes third-place finisher Finjaan, will go straight to the Newmarket Guineas.\n* Lahaleeb (6-1) got up on the line to win the Group 3, $97,000 Fred Darling Stakes, earning herself a spot in the 1000 Guineas against Rainbow View. Trained by Michael Channon, Lahaleeb beat Super Sleuth by a head with the 9-4 favorite Maoineach 15 lengths behind in eighth. The time for the seven furlongs was 1:27.87. \nWinning rider Darryll Holland had also ridden Lahaleeb to victory last time in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket on Oct. 18. An Irish-bred daughter of Greenham Stakes winner Redback, Lahaleeb was third, 3 1/2 lengths behind 1000 Guineas favorite Rainbow View, in the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster on Sept. 11.
