Vinery consolidates New York stallions

Glenye Cain Oakford|Oct 04, 2011

Vinery, which has expanded its operation to several New York farms in recent months, will stand all of its New York stallions at Sugar Maple Farm in Poughquag in 2012.

The Kentucky-based farm announced Tuesday that it will relocate Frost Giant, Justenuffhumor, and Posse from Empire Stud to Sugar Maple, where they will stand alongside Friendly Island and Bluegrass Cat. Bluegrass Cat previously stood at WinStar Farm in Kentucky and has moved to New York as part of a Vinery/WinStar venture. Vinery will retain Empire Stud as a boarding facility.

In related news, Vinery also has named Sugar Maple's manager, Dan Hayden, as its general manager for New York operations.

Vinery also has a division in Florida.
