:quality(75))
Kountry Plunge (Brian Sears) took the $110,200 New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) event for 2-year-old trotting fillies at Vernon Downs on Friday (September 4).
Secret Lover (Braxten Boyd) took the lead from her outside post and led to the quarter in 28 1/5, but Kountry Plunge ($2.62) made her move heading down the backstretch, taking control to the half in 59 2/5. She then cruised to three-quarters in 1:27 4/5. As they reached the stretch, second-place finisher Secret Lover and third-place finisher Jula Florence (Tyler Miller) went all-out after the leader, but Kountry Plunge poured it on and won in 1:55 1/5.
Kountry Plunge (Chapter Seven-Plunge Blue Chip) is trained by Ake Svanstedt for owners Bender Sweden, OBM Stable, Ecurie Diocles AB, Svanstedt & Midnight Sun. She is now four-for-four in her young career.
