Vernon: Love A Good Story scores in New York Sire Stakes
Love A Good Story, who was a solid second to Hypnotic AM in the Empire Breeders Classic final most recently, turned a second-over journey into a 1:52 1/5 victory in a $114,000 New York Sire Stakes contest for sophomore trotting fillies on Saturday afternoon at Vernon Downs.
Driven by Andy Miller, Love A Good Story grabbed a seat in fourth from post seven and watched as Reba Blue Chip (Verlin Yoder) took over the lead from Munster (Tyler Buter) past the 26 3/5 opening quarter. No Mas Drama (Joe Bongiorno) would then brush from third to first prior to the 56 second half-mile marker, with Love A Good Story coming off the cones to follow the cover of Destiny Blue Chip (John MacDonald).
No Mas Drama was able to resist the bid of Destiny Blue Chip to the 1:25 1/5 three-quarters, but Love A Good Story was already out and moving three-wide at that point, and she would sweep into the lead in upper stretch. From there, Love A Good Story kept clear, winning by a pair of lengths. Rebe Blue Chip had dead-aim at the winner after angling out of the pocket but had to settle for second, and Munster came back on for third after getting shuffled on the pylons.
Julie Miller trains Love A Good Story, a daughter of Chapter Seven, for owners Pinske Stables, Kentuckiana Racing Stable, and Daniel Plouffe. Love A Good Story now has a record of 9-3-0 from 13 starts, and she has banked $370,449. She paid $3.30 to win as the heavy wagering choice.
