Vernon: Favored rookie colt trotters tally n NYSS

Ambassador Hanover remained undefeated and Ahundreddollarbill repeated his victory from last time out at Saratoga in the two New York Sire Stakes splits for 2-year-old male trotters on Friday afternoon at Vernon Downs.
In the opening $51,300 flight, Black Tie Bash (Brian Sears) led the way through stations of 28, 58 1/5, and 1:26 1/5 with Ambassador Hanover (Ake Svanstedt) in the two-hole. Svanstedt would edge to the outside from that position before they entered the stretch, with Barn Hall (Jason Bartlett) moving three-wide, and Dee's Red Delicous (Corey Callahan), who was the first horse to come off the rail on the last turn, racing four-wide in the lane.
It was a terrific battle to the wire among those four colts, but Ambassador Hanover seems to know where the wire is and how to get there on top, and he did that again today, winning by a head in 1:56. Dee's Red Delicous got up for second ahead of Black Tie Bash, with Barn Hall fourth. Those four rookies were separated by less than a length on the line.
The victorious Chapter Seven colt is also trained and co-owned by Svanstedt in partnership with Order By Stable, Howard Taylor, and Judith Taylor. Ambassador Hanover, bred by Hanover Shoe Farms Inc., was a $100,000 acquisition at the Standardbred Horse Sale and has pocketed $105,425 to go with his perfect four-for-four record. Ambassador Hanover's dam is the Cantab Hall mare Angel Eyes Hanover (1:57 1/5, $57,850), a half-sister to former Breeders Crown 2-Year-Old Filly Trot runner-up Angelette Hanover (Yankee Glide, 1:56 3/5, $317,892). Ambassador Hanover returned $3.10 to win as the 1-2 favorite.
Incommunicado (Svanstedt) zipped to the point from post three in the other $52,200 split, and he would reach the quarter in 28 seconds and the half in 57 flat, but on the final bend Ahundreddollarbill (Bartlett) went on a two-wide mission from fourth, and he was next to Incommunicado at the 1:26 2/5 three-quarters. Ahundreddollarbill was able to clear Incommunicado before they turned for home, and though Special Prosecutor (Sears) put in a nice rally through the lane after angling out from the three-hole, Ahundreddollarbill stayed clear, prevailing by a length and a half in 1:56. Incommunicado held third.
Ahundreddollarbill is a Chapter Seven colt trained by Dan Daley for owners Crawford Farms Racing, James Crawford IV, and Ann-Mari Daley. Ahundreddollarbill, who has been victorious in half of his four opportunities, boosted his earnings to $70,112. He was bred by Jonas Schlabach and is the first foal out of the RC Royalty mare Swinging Royalty (1:54 1/5, $255,880). Ahundreddollarbill was the 2-5 choice and paid $2.80 to win.
