The Big Apple Pace and Big Apple Trot for New York-sired 2-year-olds are new to the stakes calendar this year, and eliminations for those $250,000 finals took place on Saturday night at Vernon Downs.
Jason Bartlett won three of the eliminations, taking a male pace with New York Sire Stakes champion Fragment (by Huntsville and bred by Steve Stewart and partners, paid $2.10 to win) for trainer Per Engblom and owners Engblom Stable LLC., Douglas Sipple and Peaceful Acre Farm, a filly pace with Long Shore (by American Ideal and bred by Fair Winds Farm Inc., paid $6.98 to win) in 1:51 2/5 for trainer Joe Pavia Jr. and owners Vincent Ferriero Jr., Dominic Pavia, Eric Prevost and Todd Frocione and a filly trot with Nezuko Kamado S (by Chapter Seven and bred by owner Courant Inc., paid $2.28 to win) in 1:55 for trainer Marcus Melander.
Hunting Glory (by Huntsville and bred by Southwind Farms, paid $2.80 to win) won the other male pace elimination in 1:53 with Jordan Stratton in the bike for trainer Robert Cleary and owner Royal Wire Products Inc., and the other filly pace elimination went to Odds On Monetary (by Huntsville and bred by Crawford Farms, paid $11 to win) in 1:51 4/5 for driver Ridge Warren, trainer Travis Alexander and owner Odds On Racing.

Storybook Love (by Chapter Seven and bred by Alan and Larry Troyer, paid $10.74 to win) took the second filly trot elimination in 1:54 4/5 for driver Todd Ratchford, trainer Matthew Bax and owners Al Libfeld and Brad Grant.
There were upsets in both male trot eliminations. 10-1 Twin B Seven Sins (by Chapter Seven and bred by Twinbrook Limited, paid $22.10 to win) bagged the first one in 1:55 4/5 for driver Tyler Buter, trainer Noel Daley and owners Patricia Stable, Caviart Farms, Allister Stables LLC. and L.A. Express Stable LLC., and the other one was taken by 9-1 Read The Room (by Chapter Seven and bred by Winbak Farm, paid $20.52 to win) in 1:54 4/5 for driver Dylan Huckabone-Miller, trainer/co-owner Ake Svanstedt and co-owners Little E LLC., B Nasstrom Holding Inc. and Nils Munkhaugen.
