Vernon: Date Night Hanover delivers in Zweig Memorial for fillies

Date Night Hanover bounced back quickly after breaking stride in her split of the New York New York Mile at Yonkers last Friday, taking Thursday night's $128,000 Dr. Harry M. Zweig Memorial for sophomore trotting fillies at Vernon Downs in 1:51 4/5.

Senorita Palema (Tim Tetrick) launched to the top from post eight in a 25 3/5 opening quarter, but Drawn Impression (Louis-Philippe Roy) pressed on two-wide to her outside and took the lead away early in the backstretch. Drawn Impression would back down the half to just 55 1/5, and Dexter Dunn sent Date Night Hanover first-up from fifth passing that marker, tracked by Sadbirdstillsing (Jason Bartlett).

Drawn Impression clung to a narrow advantage at the 1:24 3/5 three-quarters as Date Night Hanover continued to progress on the rim, but coming off the final bend, Date Night Hanover surged by Drawn Impression and hit the front. It was all Date Night Hanover from there as she pulled away to the wire, winning by 3 3/4 lengths over Senorita Palema. Drawn Impression wound up third, followed by Draw The Line (Yannick Gingras) and Miss I La (Joe Bongiorno).

A daughter of Chapter Seven, Date Night Hanover is trained by Marcus Melander for owners Jeff Snyder and Onda Racing Stable. The Hanover Shoe Farms-bred is now a five-time winner from 17 outings, has banked $405,459 and paid $18.00 as an 8-1 offering.

Kinesiology (Gingras) got up in the last stride from the pocket to capture a $23,205 consolation event in 1:54 3/5 over leader Happy Chopper (David Miller). Inernational Gift (Scott Zeron) got third.

Ron Burke trains Kinesiology, a Walner filly bred by Jason Allen, Douglas Allen and Concord Stud Farm, for owners Burke Racing Stable LLc., Beasty LLC., Larry Karr and J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby. Kinesiology has a summary of 4-1-3 from 15 trips behind the gate, has put away $65,890 and returned $4.90 to win as the 7-5 favorite.
