Vequist tops 106 nominations for Kentucky Oaks

Nominations were released Friday afternoon by Churchill Downs officials for the Grade 1, $1.25 million Kentucky Oaks, and most of the leading 3-year-old fillies in the country are on a roster of 106, led by reigning divisional champion Vequist.
Other leading names include Clairiere, Travel Column, Simply Ravishing, and Malathaat. Late nominations for $1,500 can be made by April 10, and supplemental entries of $25,000 also can be made at entry time.
Todd Pletcher and Ken McPeek lead trainers with the most nominations with nine and eight, respectively.
The 1 1/8-mile Oaks will be run April 30 for the 147th time.
Nominations also were released Friday for the $1 million Old Forester Turf Classic, the main supporting feature on the May 1 Kentucky Derby card. Digital Age, the 2020 winner, is one of 75 nominations, with Chad Brown having 17 of those.
