John Velazquez will ride Hopeful winner Sporting Chance in the Rebel on March 17 at Oaklawn, his agent, Angel Cordero Jr., said Sunday. Sporting Chance, trained by D. Wayne Lukas, finished third under Luis Saez in the Feb. 19 Southwest, his first start at 3. Saez is riding unbeaten Magnum Moon in the Rebel for trainer Todd Pletcher. Sporting Chance worked a mile Monday at Oaklawn, covering the distance on a sealed, muddy track in 1:41.40. :: Just reduced! He will run in Thursday’s eighth race, an optional $40,000 claiming route over 1 1/16 miles. Lookin At Lee will break from post 2. Ricardo Santana Jr. has the mount for trainer Steve Asmsusen. The jockey-trainer combo teamed to win four races Saturday at Oaklawn, including the $125,000 Carousel. Lookin At Lee races for L and N Racing. The race Thursday will be the second since August for Lookin At Lee. He finished fifth in his comeback Feb. 17 at Fair Grounds, when he had a slow start.
