A Thousand Miles won the third stakes race of her career when she barreled home by 8 1/2 lengths over Seraphia in the $300,000 Zia Park Oaks. It was another 2 1/2 lengths back in third to Dontgiveupthefight. The Oaks was one of seven stakes on the annual Land of Enchantment card, three of which were won by jockey Ramon Vazquez. The races were worth a cumulative $1.1 million and included the $300,000 Zia Park Derby won by Brotha Keny ($6.80). A Thousand Miles ($14.20) sat just off the pace set by Dontgiveupthefight, who took the field through an opening quarter in 22.62 seconds and a half-mile in 46.14. The eventual winner took the lead through six furlongs in 1:11.93 and went on to cover the 1 1/16 miles on a fast track in 1:46.75. Diego Herrera was aboard for trainer Bart Hone. A Thousand Miles is a daughter of Thousand Words who races for Bryon Seymore. She won the Arizona Oaks at Turf Paradise and the Panthers at Prairie Meadows earlier this year. A Thousand Miles came into the Zia Oaks off a runner-up finish in the Grade 3 Autumn Miss at a mile on turf Oct. 26 at Santa Anita. Kanojo, who had won her last five starts by a combined margin of 30 lengths, was a late scratch after she flipped in the starting gate. Juvenile stakes recaps Walter the Mason became a stakes winner in the $100,000 Juvenile, setting the pace and scoring a 3 3/4-length victory over The Hell We Did, who is a half-brother to $12 million earner Senor Buscador. Walter the Mason ($35.40) was clear through an opening quarter in 22.08 seconds and a half-mile in 45.14. He increased his advantage through the stretch while covering six furlongs on a fast track in 1:09.82. Francisco Amparan was aboard for trainer and co-owner Greg Green. Walter the Mason also races for Jeff West and Dwain Yarbar. Walter the Mason is a son of Heart to Heart. He won a maiden special weight on turf two starts ago and entered the Juvenile off a fifth-place finish in a turf route allowance at Remington. Wakuda became the second member of her family to win the $100,000 Zia Princess. Her dam’s half-sister, Optionality, won the race in 2021. Wakuda and Optionality are both by Gun Runner and are homebreds for Winchell Thoroughbreds. Subscribe now.  Wakuda ($3) tracked the pace set by Mother of Pearl, who took the field through an opening quarter in 22.28 seconds and a half-mile in 45.68. The eventual winner joined the leader at the quarter pole, then was hooked through the stretch by In the Aggregate. Wakuda fought for a half-length win over that one, while it was another 7 1/4 lengths back in third to Mother of Pearl. The winner covered six furlongs in 1:11.45 under Erik Asmussen. Triple for Vazquez Jockey Ramon Vazquez won three stakes on the card, beginning with the $100,000 Zia Sprint, in which turf sprint specialist Usually Wrong won on dirt while holding off a surging Ryvit. He won by half-length over that one, while it was another length back in third to Rexford. Usually Wrong ($4) pushed Rexford through fractions of 22.39 for the opening quarter and 45.33 for the half-mile before going on to cover six furlongs on a fast track in 1:09.37. Vazquez was aboard for trainer Robertino Diodoro. Usually Wrong is a multiple stakes winner on turf and won his first dirt stakes in the Zia Sprint. The son of Lookin At Lucky races for Selman Shaby. Usually Wrong is now 7 for 9. Vazquez guided Lookingforbargains ($5.40) to a 2 3/4-length win over Pink Pacific in the $100,000 Zia Distaff. The winner rallied into fractions of 21.97 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.93 for the half-mile before covering six furlongs in 1:10.64. Todd Fincher trains the daughter of Practical Joke for Paul Jenson.    Vazquez’s final win came for Diodoro in the $100,000 Championship with Heroic Move. The winner powered home by four lengths over Ze’bul, while it was another head back in third to Cornishman. Heroic Move ($4.20) stalked fractions of 23.42 seconds for the opening quarter and 47.42 for the half-mile before moving to the fore through six furlongs in 1:11.89. He went on to cover the 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.81. Heroic Move is a son of Quality Road who races for Arnold Bennewith, Rick Wiest, Clayton Wiest, Lana Wiest, Randy Hawg, and R6 Stables. *Jockey Luis Fuentes sustained at least two fractured ribs and a possible punctured lung in a third-race spill, according to his agent, Mike Kelly. Fuentes was transported to a local hospital in the aftermath of the allowance race. His mount, Crockett, was transported off the track in the equine ambulance, according to the chart of the race.
