The connections of Flash of Mischief are exploring the possibility of a start in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint following the horse’s career performance Sunday in the $150,000 David M. Vance at Remington Park.   Flash of Mischief closed for a 6 1/4-length win in the race, while covering six furlongs in 1:08.78. He earned a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 104. “We are exploring all options,” said trainer Karl Broberg.   The Vance was the fourth stakes win for Flash of Mischief, who accounted for last year’s St. Louis Derby. He entered the Vance off a runner-up finish in the $175,000 Governor’s Cup over 1 1/8 miles at Remington.   “I’ve sworn if he was ever going to be something special it was going to be sprinting.” Broberg said. “I mean, he tries in the routes, and he’s a nice horse, but I’ve always just wanted to see him do what he did [Sunday] and it put it all together on the right night.  “I’m just of the belief this is always what he’s wanted to do.”    Flash of Mischief is a 4-year-old by Into Mischief who races for his breeder, Jerry Namy. He has gone 8 for 21 in his career for earnings of $661,778. Flash of Mischief is currently based at Remington Park.   :: DRF Bets members get FREE DRF Past Performances - Formulator or Classic. Pre-entries for the race will be taken Oct. 24.   Broberg said longterm, Flash of Mischief is a candidate for the series of sprint stakes at Oaklawn Park. It concludes with the Grade 3, $500,000 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap on April 15.   “I’m looking forward to Oaklawn Park since they have four sprint stakes – three sprints leading up to the big one,” he said.   Oaklawn has added a race to the series, the $150,000 Ring the Bell for 3-year-olds and up at six furlongs Dec. 10.   The Vance is the premier sprint offering at Remington, and it was showcased a card of eight stakes featuring the Oklahoma Derby. Namy and Broberg won a second stakes on the card, taking the $75,000 Ricks Memorial with Island Hideaway. It was the first stakes win for the mare. Broberg said the plan was to keep her covered up until “the last possible minute,” and she jetted home for a 2 1/2-length win in the 1 1/16-mile turf race. Cristian Torres, who rode Flash of Mischief, also was aboard Island Hideaway.   “She looked like a Euro when he finally let her go,” said Broberg.   Broberg said plans are to be determined for Island Hideaway.   “All thoughts have been on Flash of Mischief today,” he said.   :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
