Van Berg facing suspension

Trainer Jack Van Berg will have his license suspended on March 12 if he fails to satisfy a financial agreement with a veterinarian, an issue that had drawn the attention of track stewards twice in the last year.

Van Berg was ordered last summer at Del Mar to make a series of payments to a veterinarian. He failed to sustain the payments and had two horses scratched at Hollywood Park in November after he was suspended. A day later, Van Berg was reinstated after making a payment. He was notified last Saturday of the latest suspension.

The delay before the start of the suspension was done to give Van Berg an opportunity to make payments, stewards said.
