Valley of Mo'Ara wins Miss Ohio at odds-on
Favored Valley of Mo'ara led throughout to dominate her stakes debut in the $75,000 Miss Ohio Stakes for statebred 2-year-old fillies on Saturday at Thistledown.
This was the third career start for Valley of Mo'ara, an Overanalyze filly who is owned in partnership by trainer Tim Hamm's Blazing Meadows Farm, TEC Racing, and RTA Family Trust. The filly was second in her debut on June 4 at Thistledown before romping to a 10-length victory in a June 17 maiden at the same track.

Valley of Mo'ara ($3.20), who broke from the rail in the field of six under Scott Spieth, easily assumed command soon after the start, and led by 1 1/2 lengths through the opening quarter of 22.48 seconds. She continued to widen her advantage, leading by two lengths as she came into the stretch of the sprint, and drawing clear to win by four lengths. She stopped the clock in 1:06.46 for the 5 1/2 furlongs.
Edge of Night, who raced in third for the early stages of the race, edged Calusa Queen, the only other prior winner in the field, to be second by a nose. Calusa Queen was a neck ahead of Moonlit Mission. After that, it was a long way back to Nikki My Angel and Baccarat, both first-time starters.
