Valixir garners Group 2 victory
Valixir found his spot at Maisons-Laffitte on Wednesday with a handy three-length triumph in the Group 2 Prix Eugene Adam.
Third in both the French Derby and the key Derby prep, the Group 1 Prix Lupin, Valixir led throughout in France's traditional Bastille Day feature. Jockey Eric Legrix merely had to push Valixir out to maintain his edge over the runner-up, Delfos, who had finished 12th in the French Derby.
Trained by Andre Fabre, Valixir went off the 3-5 favorite and covered the 1 1/4 miles on soft ground in 2:07.90. African Dream, twice a Group 3 winner in England this season, was fourth, six lengths behind the winner.
