Upperline retired, will stay at Stone Farm

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Three-time Grade 3 winner Upperline has retired from racing and will join the broodmare band at Stone Farm in Paris, Ky.

Stone Farm co-owns Upperline , a 5-year-old Maria's Mon mare, in partnership with John Adger, Oakcrest Farm, and trainer Michael Stidham. The partnership initially had entered her in the Nov. 5 Fasig-Tipton November select sale but have decided to keep her in partnership as she starts her breeding career. Upperline won this year's Bewitch and Arlington Matron Stakes as well as the 2010 Arlington Oaks, all Grade 3 events. Most recently, she followed up a third-place finish behind In Lingerie in Keeneland's Grade 1 Spinster Stakes with a win in the Oct. 21 Dowager Stakes at the same track.

Upperline is out of the Caerleon mare Snowflake, a Group 1-placed runner who also has produced 2011 stakes-winner Snow Fall, by War Front.
