Unusual Heat booked full for 2016

Unusual Heat, one of California’s perennial leading sires, is booked full for the 2016 breeding season with an advertised fee of $20,000, but is accepting approved mares to a waiting list.

The 25-year-old son of Nureyev stands at Harris Farm in Coalinga, Calif. Unusual Heat has sired 15 crops of racing age, with 385 winners and combined progeny earnings of $49,322,022.

Among his leading runners are champion Acclamation; Grade 1 winners The Usual Q. T., Unusual Suspect, and Golden Doc A;, Grade 2 winners Lethal Heat, Tucked Away, and Gervinho; and Grade 3 winner Lightmyfirebaby.

The coming breeding season will be the sixth standing at Harris Farms and his 19th overall in the state of California. He set the state’s all-time record for progeny earnings in a single year in 2008, and led the state’s sires by earnings each of the subsequent years through 2013.
