Untapable to face six in Apple Blossom

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The champion Untapable drew post 2 in a field of seven for the Grade 1, $600,000 Apple Blossom Handicap, to be run Friday at Oaklawn Park. The race is one of two stakes on the program. I Spent It, the winner of the Grade 2 Saratoga Special, makes his second start of the year in the $100,000 Bachelor. Entries were taken Tuesday.
The Apple Blossom will go as the ninth race on a 10-race card that starts at 1:30 p.m. Central. Post time for the 1 1/16-mile fixture for fillies and mares is 5:10 p.m.
Untapable will be making her second start of the year and is the 121-pound highweight under John Velazquez. The field from the rail with riders: Call Pat, Ramon Vazquez; Untapable, Velazquez; Pearl Turn, Jesus Castanon; Diva’s Diamond, Cliff Berry; Gold Medal Dancer, Luis Quinonez; Glorys Last Chance, Terry Thompson; and Sugar Shock, Channing Hill.
I Spent It is part of a seven-horse field for the Bachelor, a six-furlong race for 3-year-olds. Trainer Tony Dutrow has given the mount to Velazquez.
The forecast is for partly cloudy skies and a high of 73 degrees, according to The Weather Channel.
