University of Louisville Equine Industry Program offers horse racing industry business certificate
The University of Louisville’s Equine Industry Program will begin to offer an online course load providing a “horse racing industry business certificate” in the upcoming fall semester, the program announced Tuesday.
The certificate program includes six courses offering a total of nine credit hours, at a cost of $800 for each credit hour, according to information about the program on the EIP’s website. The EIP said the program is designed “for current and aspiring industry professionals focused on building successful careers in the horse racing industry.”
Each course will run for five weeks, the EIP said. The entire program is designed as a “stand-alone,” but credits will be applicable to the completion of an MBA, according to the EIP, which is a part of the university’s College of Business.
“We worked in collaboration with the industry through local, national, and international focus groups to develop the content for this program,” said Sean Beirne, the director of the EIP, who formerly worked in positions at Arlington Park, River Downs, Evangeline Downs, and Arapahoe Park. “As a former racetrack executive, I believe this certificate will help accelerate someone’s career.”
