Unhindered on short rest in My Dear Stakes
ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Unhindered will run back two weeks after her dazzling debut score when she starts Saturday at Woodbine in the $125,000 My Dear Stakes, a five-furlong dash for 2-year-old fillies.
Unhindered, a daughter of Stormy Atlantic, led throughout a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race June 14. She got home on top by five lengths under a hand ride in a brisk time of 51.86 seconds, an effort that earned her just a 57 Beyer Speed Figure.
“She’s quick,” said trainer Ralph Biamonte. “She’s small, but she’s very athletic.”
Luis Contreras inherits the mount on Unhindered from Eurico Rosa Da Silva, who’s sticking with Sweet Dreams.
Sweet Dreams, Happy to Go, and Twisted Ginger also are unbeaten in one start each.
Sweet Dreams put up a 65 Beyer in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race here May 31, during which she lacked room on the turn before closing inside to prevail by daylight. She’s put in two half-mile works in the interim for trainer Gail Cox.
Chicago shipper Happy to Go possesses the highest Beyer in the field, a 68, which was earned in a narrow win going 4 1/2 furlongs over Arlington’s Polytrack on May 29.
Twisted Ginger got a 45 Beyer while earning her diploma in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race at Presque Isle Downs on May 21. She will compete without shoes.
Pom Pom Pistol graduated second time out against males at Presque Isle on June 1, when she earned a 56 Beyer.
Zia broke slowly before closing wide for second when she debuted against Sweet Dreams. She breezed a half-mile in a bullet 47.60 seconds June 17.
Trainer Mark Casse nominated eight fillies to the My Dear but only entered first-time starter Dixie Twist, an Ontario-bred $180,000 yearling purchase by Indian Charlie.
“She trained above average in Ocala, and she’s trained well at Woodbine,” Casse said. “She’s a nice filly, but I’m not going to tell you that she’s going to blow them away.”
