Undefeated and untested in four starts, Infinite Patience stretches out

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – The $75,000 Fantasy for 2-year-old fillies may as well be a match race between Infinite Patience and Miss Prospector. The mile and a sixteenth race drew four horses, but Everything’s Quiet and Enchanted Lady appear outclassed.
The Fantasy goes as race 2 on an eight-race card that begins at 1:50 p.m. Pacific.
Infinite Patience has completely dominated her opposition in her four starts, all at Hastings for trainer Barbara Heads.
Miss Prospector, owned by Glen Todd and trained by Sandi Gann, struggled in three starts before romping by 11 1/4 lengths in a maiden special weight race at Emerald Downs on Sept. 21. Todd has taken over her training at Hastings, where she worked a strong five furlongs in 1:01.20 on Oct. 5.
Both horses will be going a middle distance for the first time.
Infinite Patience was particularly impressive winning the $100,000 Sadie Diamond Futurity in her last start on Sept. 21.
With Antonio Reyes aboard, she broke sharply in the 6 1/2-furlong dash and seemed comfortable being inside of Everything’s Quiet, who posted a quick quarter-mile time of 21.91 seconds. Reyes let Infinite Patience roll approaching the quarter pole and she cruised the rest of the way while drawing off to win by six lengths.
Heads is confident she will be able to handle three turns on Sunday.
“Antonio hasn’t really asked her to run in any of her races and she always gallops out strong,” said Heads. “She is fast but acts like a horse that can rate. Anything is possible and sometimes babies get confused the first time they stretch out. There is a lot of speed in the race so we’re just going to leave it up to Antonio with how he wants to ride her. She has the breeding to go long, too.”
A daughter of Sungold, Infinite Patience is a half-sister to Raider, a two-time route stakes winner who finished second to Here’s Hannah in the 2017 Fantasy.
She will break from post 3 with Reyes up.
Miss Prospector got off to a slow start in her debut and then showed good speed before fading in the $54,000 Angie C and $50,000 Washington Cup Juvenile Fillies.
The Washington-bred daughter of Harbor the Gold was a different horse in her latest start. She broke on top and widened without any urging from Javier Matias. The final time for the six-furlong dash was a rapid 1:08.99.
“She was tying up,” said Todd. “We got her straightened out and she showed what she can do in her last start. She likes this track and I really liked the way she worked here.”
Miss Prospector will break from the outside post with Richard Hamel aboard for the first time.
The Phil Hall-trained Enchanted Lady will be rolling late and could pick up the pieces if the top two get into an all-out duel.
Everything’s Quiet, trained by Nancy Betts, has good speed, drew the rail, and will likely be in the mix early.
