Unbridled Slope lands first stakes victory in Unreachable Star

Unbridled Slope became a stakes winner Saturday when he powered to a six-length win over Hoosier Daddy Now in the $250,000 Unreachable Star on the Indiana Champions Day card at Horseshoe Indianapolis. It was another 1 1/2 lengths back in third to Kingsbury Road.

The race for 3-year-olds was the richest of the card’s four Thoroughbred stakes restricted to horses sired or bred in Indiana runners. There also were a pair of $55,000 overnight handicaps on the 13-race card, as well as six stakes for Quarter Horses.

Unbridled Slope ($9) settled in third off the pace set by Costly Pass and Tremor, who were prominent through fractions of 23.77 seconds for the opening quarter and 47.68 for the half-mile. Unbridled Slope took the lead through six furlongs in 1:13.03 and increased his advantage to the wire while covering one mile and 70 yards on a fast track in 1:43.41.

Oscar Villareal was aboard the winner for owner and trainer Devarus Douglass. Unbridled Slope is a son of Slope.

In the $200,000 Lady Fog Horn for 3-year-old fillies, Touchdown Pass pulled a 42-1 upset when she drove to a four-length win over Crosley. It was another length back in third to Classic Kitten.

Touchdown Pass ($86.40) trailed the field early as favorite Werk It Wendy set fractions of 24.03 for the opening quarter, 49.41 for the half-mile and 1:14.69 for six furlongs. The eventual winner covered the one mile and 70 yards in 1:45.42.

Fernando De La Cruz was aboard the winner for trainer Michelle Elliott.

Touchdown Pass, who is by Pass Rush, races for KP Thoroughbreds.

In the $100,000 Crown Ambassador for 2-year-olds, Mondavila fought back for a head win over Slam Dunk Justice. Evin Roman was aboard the winner for trainer Randy Klopp.

Mondavila ($5.60) set fractions of 22.53 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.95 for the half-mile before covering six furlongs in 1:13.21.

Mondavila is a son of Mondavi who races for Liz Klopp and Jill Patrick.

In the $100,000 Indiana Stallion for 2-year-old fillies, Molly’s Potion drew out to a eight-length win over Liz’s Legacy. Samuel Bermudez was aboard the winner for trainer Dawn Fontenot.

Molly’s Potion ($8.80) tracked Miss Candela through an opening quarter in 22.83 seconds, then overtook that one and went on to cover six furlongs in 1:13.16.

The winner is by Pataky Kid and she races for Jorge Rivera-Castaner.

* E’s Magic ($4) was a 2 1/4-length winner of the $55,000 Gary Patrick, an overnight handicap for fillies and mares at 5 1/2 furlongs. She covered the distance in 1:05.05. De La Cruz was aboard the daughter of Good Magic for Al Bianchi Racing and Joseph Davis.

* Scotty’s On Edge ($17.80) was a three-quarter length winner of the $55,000 Kim Hammond, an overnight handicap for 3-year-olds and up. He covered 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:03.84. Marcelino Pedroza Jr. was aboard the son of Competitive Edge for Millard Seldin Revocable Trust and trainer Robert Dobbs Jr.
