Unbeaten Waggley tops Sanford
?q=100)
Waggley, who won her first two starts three weeks apart in April in Kentucky, faces seven males entered for Saturday’s Grade 3, $225,000 Sanford Stakes for 2-year-olds at six furlongs.
Waggley, a daughter of Life Is Good, won her debut going 4 1/2 furlongs at Keeneland on April 8 before coming back against males on April 29 to win the Kentucky Juvenile, albeit against just two rivals.
Junior Alvarado replaces Joel Rosario on Waggley, who breaks from the rail.
Booked, a second-out maiden winner in Saratoga for Steve Asmussen, is the only other horse in the field with two starts. Booked finished second to the Ward-trained Fanshell Beach in a 4 1/2-furlong race at Churchill Downs. The maiden Jack’s Golden Goal, second to Booked in Saratoga, was also entered.
Debut winners Goodbye to Romance, Pocket Listing, Vissino, Ashcroft Lane, and Regent’s Park are also in the Sanford. Regent’s Park, trained by Jorge Delgado, is cross-entered in Saturday’s $100,000 Proud Man Stakes at Gulfstream Park.
