Typhoon Slew scratched from Juvenile Turf

Byron King|Nov 06, 2010

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Longshot Typhoon Slew was scratched from the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Saturday morning.

As of 9:45 a.m., Crown of Thorns was the only other horse scratched from one of Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup races, having been withdrawn from the Dirt Mile.

Trainer Mike Maker said Typhoon Slew trained well earlier in the day but was showing signs of lameness a couple hours later. He did not specify the nature of the injury.

A 15-1 shot on the morning line, Typhoon Slew, who had drawn the inside post, had been expected to be involved in the early pace of the race.

His scratch reduces the Juvenile Turf to a 12-horse field. It goes as the fourth race on the card, and kicks off the first of eight Breeders’ Cup races.
