Tyler's Tribe ready for return to training

Tyler’s Tribe, who last year at 2 won five of seven starts, is scheduled to return to Oaklawn next week after getting some time off at the farm of his co-owner and trainer, Tim Martin.
Tyler’s Tribe won his first five starts by nearly 60 lengths before bleeding in both the Nov. 4 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint, in which he finished 12th, and the Advent at Oaklawn, in which he finished third Dec. 9.
“He’s had a month of 'R and R' and therapy,” Martin said. “The therapy is supposed to be helping. I think he’ll be okay.”
Tyler’s Tribe has had turnout time at the farm, and has recently resumed jogging a few days a week. He won’t resume working for at least another month, said Martin.
“We didn’t want to lose all of his fitness,” Martin said.
“He’s feeling a little spunky. That time off does them good. It’s a natural thing for a horse to be outside. The sun heals a lot of things up.”
Martin said there’s no target race for Tyler’s Tribe.
“We’ll just bring him along and breeze him some and go from there,” he said.
Two turns later for Count de Monet
Count de Monet established himself as one of the top young horses on the grounds in December, when he won the Advent to move his record to 3 for 3. He’s raced once since, setting the pace and finishing fourth in the Renaissance.
“He came back real good,” said trainer Tom Swearingen.
“We would like to try him two turns. Is it in the near future? Probably not. We’d like to get another race back short again and then possibly go long. He has to show us what we’re looking for to do the two-turn thing.”
