Tyler Baze moves tack East

Tyler Baze, who has enjoyed a lucrative career riding primarily in Southern California, intends to ride at Churchill through the end of the spring meet (June 29) and will begin a couple of days early when riding Ready Orb Not in the first race Thursday at Keeneland.
Baze, 36, has more than 2,600 wins and $117 million in mount earnings in a career dating to 1999. He will be represented by Joe Santos, the son of retired Hall of Fame jockey Jose Santos.
Brown filly turns heads
Brown said Guarana, who earned a 92 Beyer Speed Figure as a 14 3/4-length winner of her career debut Friday at Keeneland, will train for her next race at Belmont or Saratoga.
“She ran like she trained, like a very good filly,” he said. “I’m not sure yet if we’ll try an allowance next or go straight to a stakes with her.”
Guarana, a 3-year-old Three Chimneys Farm homebred by Ghostzapper, paid $3.60 as a poorly kept secret after finishing 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16.43 over a sloppy track.
◗ Beach Flower, who was disqualified from first to third in the Grade 3 Dowager last fall at Keeneland, is expected back for another try Friday when the Grade 3, $150,000 Bewitch Stakes is featured on the closing-day program. Beach Flower was one of at least 10 female turf marathoners expected when Bewitch entries were taken Tuesday.
