Yourdreamsormine wins the Groomstick
Kenny Martin/Coglianese Photos Since joining Milt Wolfson's bar in the spring, Yourdreamsormine has been first or second in six starts, including a win in the Groomstick.

Yourdreamsormine tops a well-matched and familiar field of seven set to go a mile at Gulfstream Park West in Sunday’s $35,000 feature, a second-level optional $62,500 claimer.

Yourdreamsormine has been a model of consistency since joining trainer Milt Wolfson’s barn last spring, having finished first or second in all six starts. Those solid performances include stakes victories going seven furlongs at Gulfstream Park in the Bull Gator and Groomstick.

Yourdreamsormine will break from the far outside under regular rider Tyler Gaffalione while racing for the optional $62,500 claiming tag Sunday.

“I’m running him here because there aren’t any stakes coming up at the moment, he’s doing well and needed to run, and the only way he’s eligible for the condition is if he runs for the tag,” said Wolfson. “Besides, it’s not going to be long before all the heavy heads start shipping down here.”

Wolfson said he thinks a mile is well within Yourdreamsormine’s wheelhouse and is not worried about sending him around two turns, although his best races have come at either seven furlongs or a one-turn mile at Gulfstream.

“I don’t think the distance should be an issue. Seven furlongs to a mile is really his forte, although I would have preferred he drew further inside,” said Wolfson. “But I expect another good race, and hopefully we’ll get lucky and can win the thing.”

Yourdreamsormine is coming off a tough neck setback at the hands of We’re All Set going seven furlongs under similar conditions one month ago at Gulfstream Park.

“He couldn’t quite get loose for a while, made his run once he did, but couldn’t quite get there in time,” said Wolfson. “The winner ran a huge race that day.”

Piloting, who finished 1 1/2 lengths behind Yourdreamsormine when fourth in the pair’s previous encounter, is among the competition again Sunday. Other contenders who have chased Yourdreamsormine home on several occasions this season include Saraguero, Hy Kodiak Warrior, and Joshua’s Comprise.

Tenango, who moves up in company off an impressive allowance win Sept. 9, and longshot Fearless Dragon complete the lineup.
