Two stakes share spotlight with Rainbow 6

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – There will be a pair of stakes races on Saturday’s card, the $100,000 Soldier’s Dancer and its filly-and-mare counterpart, the $100,000 Ginger Punch, but they will be overshadowed by the mandatory payout of the large Rainbow 6 jackpot, which if it is not hit on Thursday or Friday will approach $1 million when the day begins.
The Soldier’s Dancer, a 1 1/16-mile turf race, was postponed last Saturday due to inclement weather. The extra week has led to a full field of 12 (plus three main-track-only horses) on Saturday, with Enterprising the overwhelming favorite. Trained by Mike Maker, Enterprising is already a two-time graded-stakes winner this year.

Favorite Heir, Galleon Mast, Keepthedreamalive, and Completely Bonkers each enter the race off a victory, although they will have to step up their game to beat Enterprising.
The Ginger Punch wound up with a field of only eight fillies and mares, and it features a rematch between Family Meeting and Somethingelse, who finished first and second in the Distaff Turf at Tampa Bay Downs in April. Lori’s Store, Bonita, and Bitacora, the only 3-year-old in the lineup, are among those who will attempt to upset those two.
