Two San Antonio hopefuls change partners

Collected, who will have Mike Smith replacing Martin Garcia, is not the only San Antonio probable that will have a new rider. Javier Castellano picks up the mount on Accelerate, whose regular rider Victor Espinoza is committed to Prime Attraction. Accelerate worked six furlongs in 1:14.40 on Tuesday at Santa Anita.
Early this week, Santa Anita stakes coordinator Chris Mertz expected at least seven to enter the $300,000 Santa Antonio at a mile and a sixteenth. Those include Collected, Accelerate, Giant Expectations, Hoppertunity, Prime Attraction, Top of the Game, and Win the Space.
Two promising 2-year-olds sidelined
Two highly regarded 2-year-old maiden colts considered Derby prospects have been sidelined with injuries. He’s Stylish, a son of Into Mischief colt trained by Phil D’Amato, stumbled at the start of his most recent start Nov. 23 at Del Mar and came out of the third-place finish with a flake in his left hind ankle. D’Amato said he will be out 60 days.
Keystone Field, a son of Candy Ride trained by Richard Mandella, sustained a stress fracture in his pelvis while finishing fourth in his debut Nov. 11 at Del Mar. Keystone Field will be sidelined an unspecified length of time.
