Two lengthy wins in Premier Night preps

Mary Rampellini|Jan 11, 2009

Snug and Zarb's Ballerina were dominant winners of a pair of Delta Downs stakes on Saturday night that were designed as preps for races on the track's $1 million Louisiana Premier Night program in February.

Snug ($11.20) was prominent throughout for a 4 1/4-length win over Southern Invasion in the $75,000 Cypress Stakes. He covered the one-mile race for older Louisiana-breds in 1:39.28. Diego Saenz rode the winner for Heiligbrodt Racing Stable and trainer Jim Hudson.

Zarb's Ballerina ($3) overtook pacesetter Alphadoodle for a 4 3/4-length win in the $75,000 Camelia for fillies and mares bred in Louisiana. Don Simington was aboard the winner for Triple R Stable and Danny Whited.

Sammie Sam was scratched from the Camelia.
