Two Emmys ready for action again after pre-race scratch

Two Emmys, scratched by Fair Grounds stewards on the advice of the track veterinarian during his warm-up for the $300,000 Muniz Memorial on March 25, is just fine, trainer and majority owner Hugh Robertson reported Sunday.
In fact, Two Emmys was fine getting saddled before the Muniz and fine when he got back to Robertson’s Fair Grounds barn after being scratched lame.
“He was sound in the paddock, went out and jogged a couple hundred yards and went lame,” Robertson said. “He stepped on something. When we pulled his shoe off he had a little tender spot on his hoof. He must have stepped on something that made him sore for a few minutes.”
Pity. Seven-year-old Two Emmys has aged exceedingly well but can’t have too many big dances left in him. He won the 2022 Muniz and was among the favorites again this year. Now, Robertson isn’t certain what race he’ll target. From Fair Grounds, Two Emmys went to the Oaklawn Park barn of Robertson’s son, trainer Mac Robertson, “so he could eat some grass,” Hugh Robertson said.
“ I stopped to see him, and he looks great,” said Robertson, who plans to bring Two Emmys north to his Hawthorne base in coming days.
