Two colts breeze a furlong in 9.60 seconds at OBS under-tack show

Joe Nevills|Mar 11, 2016

The single horses who breezed the fastest times at an eighth and a quarter of a mile Thursday gained some company Friday during the third and final session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. March 2-year-olds in training presale under-tack show, with a pair of colts running a furlong in 9.60 seconds and a pair of fillies covering two furlongs in 20.40.

The juveniles breezed over the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface.

Among the two fastest one-furlong workers of the day was a City Zip colt out of the unraced Stroll mare Cap’s Legacy, who is the dam of two winners from three foals to race. He is consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm as agent and hails from the family of Grade 1 winners Trumpet’s Blare and Albert the Great, Grade 2 winner James Street, and Grade 3 winners Passing Vice, Ask Me No Secrets, and Dynamic Impact.

Tying for the fastest time for one furlong Friday was a Kantharos colt out of the winning Glitterman mare Gracious Assault, who is the dam of two winners from five foals to race. His page features Canadian champion Heart to Heart and Grade 1 winner Chart the Stars, and he is consigned by de Meric Sales as agent.

Those two joined an Adios Charlie colt who set the bar for one furlong during Thursday’s breeze show.

The two-furlong leaders included a Frost Giant filly out of the winning Johannesburg mare Easy Erin, whose two foals to race are both winners. Her second dam is the Grade 3 winner Dancin Renee, and her extended family includes Grade 2 winner Say Florida Sandy. She is consigned by Dromellito Stud Sales.

A Twirling Candy filly also logged the co-fastest time at a quarter-mile Friday. She’s out of the winning Menifee mare Felicitee, who has had one winner from two foals to race. De Meric sales consigns the filly as agent.

The first horse to set the co-fastest time was a filly from the first crop of The Factor who breezed Thursday.

The OBS sale will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, starting each day at 11 a.m. Eastern. Watch live coverage of the sale and get real-time analysis with DRF Breeding Live.
